LEGAL COUNSEL

Hillsborough County's Legal Counsel provides legal representation to the County Elected Officials, Departments and Agents.  Counsel provides advice on a array of issues arising daily that include but are not limited to contracts, leases, landlord/tenant matters, RSA 91-A, parliamentary procedure, employment and labor (Collective Bargaining Agreements, FLSA, Family Medical Leave Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, etc.), prisoner conditions of confinement, service of process, execution of court orders, Medicaid compliance, debt collection and probate, to name a few.  Legal Counsel also appears on behalf of Hillsborough County before the New Hampshire Supreme Court, The Federal District Court, the First Circuit Court of Appeals, the Superior, Probate and Circuit Courts, as well as at arbitration hearing and before administrative agencies including the Department of Labor, Human Rights Commission, Health and Human Services and PELRB.  Litigation on behalf of the county is initiated, directed and resolved under the Authority of the County Commissioners.
